War in Israel
Documenting the Response of Education and the Practice of Teaching Mathematics during the War in Israel
Documenting the Response of Education and the Practice of Teaching Mathematics during the War in Israel
Education during wartime requires creativity and perseverance. Teachers, therapists, and volunteers found themselves thrown into an abnormal reality, confronting enormous challenges and trying to create order in a hectic situation. This involves establishing learning groups at evacuee centers, reusing physical spaces as temporary schools, combining professional staff with volunteers, integrating trauma specialists, providing online learning, and adapting teaching methods to the unique condition.
Since Israel is no stranger to periods of emergency, we acknowledge that documenting educational practice during the war would be important. Therefore, we propose to commission two reports. The first would concentrate on how the education system responds and addresses the organization of teaching and learning. The second would focus on the specific adaptations that are made in the teaching of mathematics.
