The leading digital magazine in Israel for strengthening the education community and leading professional discourse
Established in 2014 by the Trump Foundation, “It’s Time for Education” (Higi’a Zman Chinuch) has become the most popular digital magazine on education in Israel. In 2024, the magazine reached 66,000 followers on Facebook and Instagram, composed mostly of teachers, school principals and education professionals. The magazine also sends a weekly newsletter to 37,000 subscribers and runs a WhatsApp group with 2,200 participants and a channel on TikTok. Every month, 15,000 users access the magazine’s content, mostly through Google. The website is updated with three articles per week, as well as podcasts, video interviews, and posts.
When the war started, we realized that we had a communication asset that could potentially help educators share the urgent needs they had, and maintain learning continuity even under difficult circumstances. We immediately recruited volunteers and sent them to temporary schools at the evacuee centers. They documented teaching and learning, interviewed principals and teachers, and facilitated data-sharing and joint professional learning. The magazine collaborated with Ynet, the most popular news website in Israel, to amplify the content of the magazine and reach a wider audience. Traffic during the war increased by 33%.
The magazine was also used to promote the international education conference held by the foundation in November 2024. Ahead of the conference, we interviewed international experts (Angela Duckworth, Michael Levitt, John Hattie, the late Lee Shulman, and others) and broadcast the films at the conference. A volume containing the magazine’s ten most-read articles since its inception was prepared, printed, and distributed to the conference participants. Additionally, a writing workshop was held to train teachers on how to write for the magazine.
In 2025, our goals are to increase the number of newsletter subscribers to 50,000 and expand monthly visits to the website to 20,000. We will do so by implementing a more effective SEO process and by adapting the content to the preferences of the users, such as editing articles into a “how-to” format for teachers. In addition, we plan to interview several international education experts who completed their PhD under the guidance of the late Lee Shulman. The interviews will be broadcast and covered by the magazine.
We are also planning to maintain the scope of activity with three articles per week, with special emphasis on the foundation’s strategy. The leading categories on the main homepage will now include the topics of high-tech matriculation, AI, international PISA standards, and mental skills.
