Documenting Teaching during Wartime and Organizing a Photography Exhibition and Workshops for 75 Teachers
The Naggar School of Photography, located in the Musrara Neighborhood of Jerusalem, is a veteran vocational art institution, teaching a three-year program to 160 students each year. The school, which was the first grantee partner of the Trump Foundation, organized a photography exhibition in 2012 on “the art of teaching”. This exhibition marked the foundation’s commitment to honoring and promoting the teaching profession in Israel.
Now, we turned back to the school asking them to send photographers to capture the practice of teachers and teaching during the war. These teachers, who are now working and volunteering in centers of evacuated families, experience immense challenges and create innovative solutions. The school proposes to send 10 photographers for a week of extensive documentation, and to curate an exhibition, a designated website, and a book.
In addition, the school proposes to invite 75 teachers from the evacuee centers to participate in photography workshops. Over four sessions, these teachers will acquire skills in utilizing photography tools to document their work. Their photos will be showcased in local exhibitions held at the centers, to parents, students, and visitors.
