The Institute for Democratic Education

Since its founding in 1987, The Institute for Democratic Education has worked to achieve social change by promoting a democratic culture based on the Declaration of Human Rights. The Institute is known as a center of training and advanced study for the Ministry of Education’s Democratic Education unit. In a democratic culture, the community is responsible to allow each person to express his/her uniqueness, advances cooperation between parties, enhances reciprocal relations between the individual, the community, and their surroundings, and in this manner seeks to create a society of equals, that is far, growing, and sustainable.  The institute encourages optimism, critical thinking and individual and community activism. It considers education and social processes critical tools for promoting democratic culture.
